As you savor the last days of summer vacation, your VEA Executive Team has been hard at work gearing up for the coming school year. We are excited to have a year off from formal contract negotiations and we are looking to make 2021-2022 an awesome year in terms of member engagement!
That being said, hold on to your britches, because we're coming in hot!
First Meeting of the Year!
Mark your calendars, because our FIRST general membership meeting of the year will take place on Thursday, August 19th at 3:30 in the VASE Conference Room.
This will be a quick meeting reviewing some of the benefits of union membership as well as some of the main highlights of our contract. EVERYONE is welcome and encouraged to join, regardless of whether you are a union member.
There will be time at the end of the meeting for answering questions. Feel free to email questions prior to the meeting as well!
Officer Elections
Are you interested in taking a leadership role in your union? Officer elections will take place on Friday, September 10th. Positions include President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
Additionally, if you are interested in serving on the nominating committees, please let your current officers know (we need at least two members). Duties of the Nominating committee consist of development of the election slate, distribution of ballots, and tabulation of election results. Once the election is over and the results are in, your job is done! It's a relatively easy way to get involved and serve your association!

Keep an eye out for an all new VEA logo - it's currently in the works and we're hoping to have VEA swag for order this year. We hope you're ready to show your solidarity in style!

Opportunities to Connect
In the coming months, look for announcements about opportunities to connect and socialize with your colleagues as well as make an even BIGGER positive impact on the communities we serve. We're hoping to schedule happy hours, fundraisers, and more this year! If you're interested in helping or have any fabulous ideas, let us know!
